Inspired by friends

I've been spending a lot of time at my good friends Fiona and Pauls' lovely flat in Brighton, and I love how their life inspires me so much! I wanted to share their creativity and beauty, which is reflected by the things around them.

Fiona's mutual obsession with fashion and vintage is evident in the bright prints, vintage vibes, and an overflowing wardrobe. Flowers, sculptures, interesting books, collected items from travels and gifts from friends thoughtfully grouped and displayed, they tell a story of wonder. Fiona has a lovely little sewing room which is out of my dreams, and a dressing table which could be straight out of a vintage shop (and for some reason reminds me of both of my cool auntie and hippy older cousins' bedrooms in the highlands in the 90's?).

Such a smart and suited pair, her boyfriend Paul is entertaining, flamboyant and theatrical. Incidentally, Paul is all the way from Glasgow where I used to live, so his accent makes me feel at home. Positivity beams out of these two! They have welcomed me into their special way of living and I love hearing about their far flung stories & travels around the world. They both fuel my lust for travel!

I'm Gonna Miss You Guys. xxxx
In the sewing room...

Fabulous vintage floral skirt in the best color combination
Skirt I brought round to hem (cos of moving soon I don't have a sewing machine!)
Vintage 70's Dress and Sunning Velvet jacket hanging on door to sewing room. Been in love with this coat since I first laid my 'green with envy' eyes on it.

Outfit - Seventies Boho Mama

I got this faux fur collar form a charity shop for like £2 and added it to this Next velvet blazer that I got from Ebay for under a tenner I think. Its a size 12 and a bit baggy in the sleeves so I took it in a bit.. and not having a sewing machine at the moment means I hand to HAND SEW it..UGH!

I like how the coat with the collar is a lil' bit Willy Wonka, and with the 70's hat (which is very Prada huh?!) adds up to a whole bag of crazy boho MAMA styling! I love the colour combo of the burgundy velvet with the rusty fur collar and the navy hat. I'm feelin it baby!

lil miss please with herself
I've got my EYE on you.

As seen in last post, the sheer spotty shirt is a fab charity shop find (as well as the hat) cashmere cardigan is a scottish knitwear vintage favourite of mine, I wear it all the time, its warm with out being bulky.Green Leather bag is vintage piece I bought in Glasgow in about 2000. Brooches are a few of my vintage one I've had for years, and my third eye necklace just to add a twist to the outfit. I don't feel complete unless I have a third eye on these days!

Also - I've included a few picturess of one of my jewellery boxes which I picked up of about £2, its glass and just like the ones I remember my aunty having when I was little. Inside are some of my favourite collected vintage jewellery bits n bobs (most of which I'm too scared to wear in case I lose them- silly huh!) and a few lapel pins and and ADORABLE LIL' GLASS ELEPHANT! How cute is he?! I love him- he was only 50p!!!!

What have you guys been buying lately? I shouldn't really buy anything as I'm saving for the move to Sydney but I'm a compulsive bargain hunter I can't help it!

Boho Goth Girl

This is a bit of a belated post (you can tell as its PRE-FRINGE!) as I wore this outfit to my work night out before xmas, well I say work night out, but really because I kinda work from home, I invented a fake-work
night-out with a few of my buddies. I had a great night which ended up with me taking my hair down and head banging and dancing to Bhangra. FUN. I didn't get home till 6.30am (after falling out with my Lita's on the walk home!) But I loved wearing this outfit it felt so glam and vintage, I wore it with my big grey Sheepskin collared coat, featured in previous posts, and with my pals we turned a few heads. I took these then forgot all about them. So here they are...enjoy.

nice day for a funeral

Went to see off my Great Aunty Joan Amelia Baker (1928-2011) today, was a lovely service and was actually really nice to meet a lot of my relatives who live in England who live/came down to east Sussex, where I live, for the Funeral. She was the youngest of three sisters one of whom was my Nan (Joyce) who passed a way 2 years ago next month (miss you Nan). My Dads family are actually all pretty nice, its a shame that we didn't know each other a lot better, but it fortunate that events like this bring families together, in a around about way. My Dad even liked my 'Cruella Deville' HAT! Was expecting him to take the piss!
